When I opened outlook express it said do I want to compact and I said yes.
After doing this all of my e-mails in my inbox went away. Could someone tell
me where they are and how to bring them back. Thank you
Jeremy

Determine the location of your message store folder (OE menu -
Tools/Options/Maintenance and click Store Folder button) and write it down.
Close Outlook Express and open Windows Explorer and navigate the Store
Folder. Look and see if you have both "Inbox.dbx" and "Inbox(1).dbx" and if
so, you may be able to recover the messages from the corrupted Inbox(1).dbx
by using a tool such as DBXtract from www.oehelp.com If you are running
Windows 2000 or XP, the DBX files are hidden by the operating system, so in
Explorer, click Tools/Folder Options, then the View tab and put a check mark
in the box to "show hidden files" and click the Apply button.
Stopping a compacting operation before it actually completes can cause the
problem, as can using an antivirus program to scan email, or storing too
many messages in the Inbox, vs. archiving them to user created folders.
To understand what other things may have caused the problem, I'd suggest you
review the info in the article:
