Can anyone help me. I am bombarded with up to 140 spam emails per day. I
could understand it if they were all addressed to me, but very few are. In
fact I doubt if there are more than 3 with "my" email address. Some are even
addressed to German email addresses. I use NTL Broadband and have spoken
with them about it, but they say they can do nothing. "Help" !!!!!!

Make a new folder, say My Inbox as a sub folder under Local Folders. Make a
rule that all mail that is addressed to your email address be sent to that
folder. That way, most of your spam will go into the default Inbox, making
it easier to delete and won't be mixed in with your real mail.

If peter.stevenson5@ntlworld.com is your real email, using it on Usenet is
asking for spam, by the way.

You are not actually be getting other people's mail.

Many mail programs support an option called BCC (Blind Carbon Copy). When using that, a
message is sent to one person (or perhaps more) and additional people are on the BCC list.
The people on the BCC list get a copy of the message, but their names don't show anywhere
in it. Instead the To: field lists the main recipient, or in some cases, the To: isn't
even used.

Some mailing lists use this feature. This is also commonly used by people who send SPAM.

You can filter out these messages with message rules.
