I can't remember how to create a link to a particular message in a newsgroup that can be sent in an email so the recipient can click on it and it will open the server and display that particular message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The link syntax is:
news://nameofnews.server/usonl$zWFHA.1148@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl

So for your original message a link would be:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/usonl$zWFHA.1148@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl

Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. No
one gets paid to help here, and the response rate from those that are helped
is less than 4-5%. If that were how medical advancements were made we would
all have died years ago. Thanks.

Hi Doc,

I don't remember the ins and outs or doing this, or when it will work and
when it might not. However, you'll notice this reply contains a link to your
original message at the bottom. This link can be used to download the
original message without opening to the newsgroup on the originating server.
The information for the message (in this case the Microsoft products support
NNTP server) is in the message properties (Message-ID line).

Message-ID: <usonl$zWFHA.1148@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl>
Shortcut: news:usonl$zWFHA.1148@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl

Compare With Server/Newsgroup link:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

The shortcut can be used from a message (may need to switch to Rich Text |
Preview mode), in the Start, Run box, in the browser address box, etc. to
download the message.

Hope this helps some.
