POP UP when trying to edit Stationery files on OE

HI,,,i am on XP and i use Outlook Express for my email.

For over a year i have been able to edit stationery files using Notepad
with no probem at all. I am not sure when this started but the last
time i tried to edit one of the stationery files i got this popup:

"This file does not have a program associating with it for performing
this action. Create an association in the Folders Options control panel"

Which i have done!!.....the files in the stationery are all .htm and
html files and i have for the past year had Notepad associated with
them to edit them.

I am able to get in another way....by right-clicking on the file i wish
to edit and choosing "open with" and then selecting Notepad.

I have even gone as far as selecting "choose another program" and then
selecting "Notepad" and also checking the box on the dialog box that
states "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

But after doing that ....and trying subsequent times to edit a
stationery file....i always get the very same popup?

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a few hints on how to
resolve this problem to where i could have the file open up to edit in
notepad when clicking the edit button...... without having to do it in
the fashion i described above.

Many ThankS!!!

Larry

Hi,

Did you try to specify Notepad as your default HTML editor in IE, Tools,
Internet Options, Programs?

Kind regards

Hello...and thanks for your reply. Yes....i have always had the html
editor set for notepad....but i went back to doublecheck......it is
indeed set to notepad.

it is the weirdest thing i have seen.....as i am able to right click on
the file to use notepad....but the edit button on the select stationery
dialog page is useless.....but yet it is supposed to perform the very
same function??....

But this is what i have just done....and it works...i don't know
why...but it does.....i put open with Wordpad.....and checked always use
this....just to see if i would quit getting the error...and if it would
open up.....and now it opens up in Notepad?....not wordpad....but
Notepad like i wanted it too....this is too strange!!...

But i am glad it i working!!....
