IE Address Bar

I have an IE 6 where the address dropdown won't work. There is plenty of
history, viewable via the Back button, or via autocomplete directly on the
address bar, keep history is set to 20 days, go button is enabled, however I
cannot get the dropdown to work by clicking on the arrow in the address box.
It simply won't do anything.

Hi Richard :-)
Try the following and see if it will help:
This information is stored in the History.
First, try turning off Autocomplete, then close IE and then open it, turn
Autocomplete back on, close IE and open it again. See if that helps.

In order to restore you default Search functions, download and run the
program below. You will have to redo any customized features you may have
added afterward.

or...
Resets all the IE functions - for windows, hangups,
Start> Run> Paste this
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
and then do the same with each one of the following..
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
or.....open an ms-dos prompt window and type the following hitting enter
after each line.
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
(It works for Windows XP pro and IE6.)
also....
Your index.dat file may have become corrupt, and you'll need to delete it
and let Windows create a new one on reboot. Back up your History files.
If that does not resolve the problem, then follow all instructions here
carefully to clean your system:

Hope this helps :-)

It may seem a silly question, but have you actually ever typed any
urls in the Address box?
If no TypedUrls exist, then there will be nothing to dropdown.
Check in the Registry with Regedit.exe and see if any are there:
There will be under the key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs]
They will be in the form "url1".... "url25"
