IE6 & SP2 - dialup + lan multiple connections

I have a laptop that connects to the internet via lan or dial-up.
It all "works"; however, when I connect via the lan (successfully), IE 6
(and Outlook Express) keep trying to connect the dial-up account.
All of my accounts have "never dial a connection" checked, but that doesn't
matter.
The system still works, but it is a bother. (This problem did not exist on
SP1) and it does not exist with alternate browsers.
Any help will be appreciated.

You may need to further configure at IE Tools > Internet Options >
Connections > LAN > Advanced.
In OE: Tools > Accounts > [account(s)] > Properties > Connection > Always
connect using... (This may need tweaking, too, but generally one should
leave this unchecked)

Does this setting need to be changed every time I switch between lan and
dial-up?
It didn't have to be prior to SP2.
by-the-by, thanks for your earlier response
