Problem using this site w/ ie 6.0 when running full screen
I have a Dell 24" monitor and if I set IE to full screen (1920x1200) it locks
up when I try to use these discussion pages. iexplore.exe goes to 99% in
taskmanager and I have to force it closed. When I run in a smaller window it
works fine.

Sounds like a video driver issue. Try updating the drivers for your video
card and reducing hardware acceleration at Control Panel, Display, Settings,
Advanced, Performance.

Thanks Sandi. Yes, I thought of that after leaving the message. I'll try that.
Thanks,
Kim

I updated to the latest ATI driver and it still is acting the same. I sent a
report to ATI.

I had received similar reports too, but it is very difficult to
re-produce coz it really depends on the individual PC environment
itself.
I have yet found the cause of this problem. If you have found something
.... anything ... please post them here.
Thanks :)

I emailed ATI, but they responded that they want a "trouble report" filled
out. If I find time, that will be my next step. In the mean time, when using
a smaller window it works fine. Only hangs up when using a maximized window.

Hi Kim,
Have you reduced hardware acceleration? If you're using top end colors try
cutting back... true color isn't really necessary for web surfing.

I do a lot of Photo work, so that is not an option. I would rather just open
IE in a smaller frame. Especially since it is only a problem on these forums.

I doubt you are doing photo work when using these forums?

No, but it is far easier to open IE in a smaller window than to change the
display properties each time I come to these forums. Remember, with a 24"
widescreen display, I can open IE in a window that still is almost as big as
the 18" screen I used to have. Perhaps, instead of trying to convince me to
work around the problem, someone at MS should look into solving the problem.
Or zip off an email to ATI to look into it.
