Wrong Favorites folder.

Something happened to my machine last week, which caused some programs not
to load any more at startup. Then I noticed that my "Favorites" in IE6 was
empty and I traced it back to being a folder under WINNT (the Win2k folder),
instead the normal folder in Documents and Settings/My Name/Favorites, which
I could access until the mysterious event on my machine.
All the links are there, but how do I re-direct IE6 to open the correct
Favorites folder instead of the first one under WINNT.
TIA,
Hagen Sahm

You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
For Windows 2000/XP:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders]
Set the Favorites path to : %USERPROFILE%\Favorites
The above should be a REG_EXPAND_SZ value, not REG_SZ

Thank you very much. It took me a little while (not too fond of messing
with the Registry), but once I figured out how to change the entry "type", I
was home free.
Thanks again, Hagen
