Re: missing option

Could some program on my computer be causing the problem?
I have Norton Internet Security 2005, Webroot Spy Sweeper and
Microsoft AntiSpyware running.

Disable NAV Script Blocking, temporarily (though if it was working properly,
it should be displaying a warning).

I unchecked script blocking in Norton (I wasn't getting a
warning message). I then tried the merge. Nothing seemed to
happen. I can manually clean up the TIF using IE. I just
have no way to tell IE to do it automatically when I exit IE.

Then you may have an even greater problem: Some sort of hijackware or even a
Trojan may have (1) disabled the "Empty TIF folders..." option and (2) is
preventing the script from running.

I restarted my computer in safe mode and then ran the reg fixer
successfully. IE now contains the option to delete TIFs.
I suspect the culprit to be Microsoft AntiSpyware and I think
I ought to uninstall it. It has not been giving me any notices
to respond to. I have "Blocked Alerts" checked and maybe
I don't understand what that means. The help file doesn't
enlighten me at all.
Thanks for your help,
Dick

I very much doubt MWAS had anything to do with the problem, Miles. More and
more I'm suspecting hijackware was interfering. MWAS does not and will
never identify and remove all hijackware/Trojans. See the pages I cited in
my last post.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for the Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware (MWAS) Beta. If you want, you can post your suspicions to:

Welcome to Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) Newsgroups
