Unrecognized "uninstall" folders...

I have about 20 "uninstall" folders directly under my windows folder as in;

"C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB885835$"

What are these folders? Maybe leftovers from software updates or previous
uninstalls? Can I delete these folders safely?

Thanks, Steve

They are the windows updates that you have installed. If you are not
going to remove any updates, they are safe to delete.

They're Critical Updates you've d'loaded & installed. Leave them for a week
or so, then if they have no adverse effect on your system, delete them.
Check the dates & if they're weeks old, delete them anyway.

Those folders contain the uninstall files for security patches
and hotfixes installed through Windows Update. If you delete
the folders you will not be able to uninstall the updates. If
you're confident that you will not need to uninstall the
updates you can delete the folders.

You can also delete this folder if it exists,
$NtServicePackUninstall$. This contains the files to uninstall
Service Pack 2. Do not delete this folder, $hf_mig$. It is
referenced when future updates are installed.
