I am running XP Pro w/ SP2 and all updates installed. I have checked for
viruses, adware, spyware and such and the machine is clean. I even put in a
new hard drive and reinstalled everything, including all updates. Here is
the problem: Whenever I am on a site that uses Java, the applet starts but
after a few seconds, it completely locks up. If you click the x to close the
browser window, the window dissappears, but it is still on the taskbar below.
When you end task with task manager, you get the unresponsive error for IE
and you can either send or not send the report. One other piece of the
puzzle, I have an HP officejet k80xi that apparently uses Java for some of
it's operations. If I try and scan something, the program throws an error
and fails. The error makes mention of a runtime problem. Both of these
problems started at the same time and seem to be related to Java. Sun's site
is no help.
Sorry for the length of the post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
