Can't delete a favourite

I hope this is the appropriate newsgroup (if not, please tell me where to go
<g>).

I have a favourite in IE6 (running under Win98SE) that is obsolete and I want to
delete it (I've often deleted favourites before and have had no problems). In
this case, the reply from within IE6 is 'Cannot delete file. File system error
(1026)'. In Windows Explorer, exactly the same error message occurs.

In Windows Explorer, the file size is said to be 1KB, but Properties for the
file says 0 bytes (and no attributes are set). ZTree says the file is 240
bytes, but when I try to delete it in that program, the reply is 'File not
Found'.

Can anyone explain to me what causes this oddity (and how to get rid of the file
that is not a file)?

Hi,
Restart in Safe Mode. See if you can delete the item that way.

Or, try one of these freeware programs to delete stubborn files. Use either
of these with caution. Make sure that you're deleting only the file you want
to delete.

Hope this helps,
