Are there different ways to save video clips or short movies from IE. How
does the "Save target as" option work? And is there a way if the clip opens
with media player that you can retreive it via Media player options? Thanks.

Yes. When you right click on a video file link you can save the file in the
location of your choice. If you open the file directly into Media Player,
you can then use the File>Save As menu item to save the clip to the location
of your choice.
