IE locks up after opening new window(s)

Help...Anyone...This is most frustrating, I have tried almost everything. I
am running an HP zd7000, 1 gb ram, 256mb video, 100 gb hd, 3.2 ghz p4, XP
pro-sp2, Java v1.5.0_02, Norton's av, adaware, spybot. I clear
cache-history-cookies daily.
Every time IE opens a new window, it locks up (I think it started when I
updated java from 1.42 to the current 1.5.0_02, but it is just a guess). It
runs fine if it does not open any new windows (via java, javascript, or html
based command). I have read just about every post on the boards here, as well
as some msvp sites I have bookmarked...I have tried almost every related
remedy posted (run checks, reinstalled files, etc.)...anyone have any
potential solutions I have missed? I would really appreciate some help...this
is driving me crazy.

I have a similar problem. Sometimes the address toolbar disappears also.
When I close the new window the original window works properly. This seemed
to start only a week ago, but unsure if anything was updated or changed as I
was out of town and there is another user on my computer. XP Home SP2, HP
7940 P3 1.0 GHz, 512MB RAM. This problem does not seem to effect Netscape
Navigator.

Hi -- Installed Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_08 amd uninstalled all
other versions of Java 2 Runtime Environment. I uninstalled Yahoo Companion.
All this seemd to correct the problem I was having.
Hope this works for you.

First eliminate any spyware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Removing some spyware can damage the Winsock stact. Before
you try to remove spyware using any of these programs , download a copy of
LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks (all Windows
versions)

How to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
