I've installed Project Server and Windows SharePoint on two different
servers. The clients have IE6 and Office 2000 installed on the computers.
When I enter the SharePoint server as the discussion server into the
Discussion options in IE6, the functionality of the discussions work.
However, an error pops up when the discussioin tool bar is opened which
reads, "Error downloading discussions from server...The server does not
appear to be a valid discussion server."
It appears to me that the discussion server works.
This error does not occur when accessing the Windows SharePoint server
directly. It occurs when the Project Server is addressed in the URL and
content is accessed from the SharePoint server. It also occurs on the
Windows SharePoint server if the server name in the URL is different from the
discussion server in the discussion options.
So, if possible I would like to cut off the validation done on IE to the
discussion server. How can I get rid of this pop up error?
