Windows password request

I use Win98 SE, OE6 and IE6

Very infrequently I am asked for a Windows password when booting-up, but
I cannot recall setting such a password. I get past it by entering my
name and pressing Enter.

My User Profiles in Password Properties is set to 'All users of this PC
use the same preferences and desktop' -OK

If I go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

and press Profile List I get A E Davies. When I click on the latter I
get: 'ProfileImageP..."C:\WINDOWS\Profiles|A E Davies"

My question is 'If I delete that profile in the registry will I delete
more than just my password profile|problem'.

Thanks,
Emrys Davies.

In this case, a registry edit could make matters worse. Can't you just use
the Control Panel to delete "A E Davies"?
