SP2

I've come back to a PC that was idle over the winter. Before I left I had
problems getting SP2 installed and Windows XP subsequently running properly.
I was told that Symantec software was going to upgraded (I run Norton's
Anti-Virus) so I let the problem ride. Despite upgrading to Norton's
Anti-Virus 2005 in the meantime I still have the problem.
I can install SP2 alright, both manually and by allowing the Windows XP
automatic upgrade, but when I reboot the computer Windows XP will not load
and open. I have to boot up in Safe Mode, uninstall SP2 and reboot. Then
Windows XP opens properly again, albeit sans SP2. Any ideas? Thanks, Denzil.

I've seen a number of computer with OLD BIOS's do this. Same when old
Intel Application Accelerator drivers. Check your motherboard vendors
website for a new BIOS and see if that helps.
