been able to write audio cd's with no problem but now for no known reason
when i burn it goes through all the steps right through to finalising disc
then i get the message 'burn completely succesfull' but when i try the disc
there is nothing on it, completely blank. it doesnt matter which program i
ues it is the same. i have checked my drive status and it says it is working
properly, there is a recording tab enabled and i have checked the setting in
regedit. any ideas ???

Open My Computer>rightclick your CD-Rom drive>click Properties
Click the Recording tab. Tick "Enable recording on this device."
Click Apply and OK.

If it worked about a week ago, did you try a system restore? You can
go back up to 90 days. You must have changed some settings somewheres.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
Also, check the below:

can you burn using other programs?
possibly the cd burner has developed a fault with burning, whereby it thinks
it is/has but it isn't/hasn't.
