Installing Newly Purchased Windows XP Over Existing Install
I have a custom made PC with a legal install of Windows XP Pro, but no image
is stored on the HDD nor do I have the CD. Can I simply install a new
purchase (new activation key) over the existing install without problems? Or
can I run Chkdisk and SFC using the new purchase CD without installing it?

Youre best bet is to boot from xp cd,at info screen select, install xp,new
copy,
delete partition, create one, then let xp reformat and install.
