No "Web Folders" -- how to access sharepoint repository through Windows Explorer?

My company has a sharepoint portal which we mostly just use for
documents. Everyone accesses it exclusively through IE. I'd like to
access it through windows explorer but the instructions don't seem to
work for me.

The instructions say to expand the Web Folders directory under "My
Network Places", but there is no Web Folders. I ran the webfldrs.msi
installer but that didn't change anything.

What's weird is when I open a document through IE in Word then the
single sharepoint folder that contained that document becomes
available in "My Network Places" but only the one folder and it's
documents. There's no way to browse the entire sharepoint folder
hierarchy.

I'm using XP Pro SP2.

Anything I'm doing wrong? Is there some setting to enable web
folders?

Thanks,

Sam
