Windows XP x64 fails install with Bios not ACPI

I have a very new Tyan S2895(K8WE) mainboard. It is running two dual core
opteron processors. When I try to install WinXP x64 it BSODs and complains
that the bios is not acpi compliant. I also have a usb floppy drive which
does not show up, so I can not install the sata drivers. The usb drive is not
a show stopper, just lowers my faith in WinXP x64. The real problem is the
acpi complaint. Pressing F7 gives me a menu with three choices, x64
uniprocessor, x64 multiple processors or other. None seem to work....
I loaded a Linux x64 live CD and it booted up perfectly. This machine needs
to run 3D Studio Viz which is a Windows app, so Linux running on this machine
only proves that the machine is OK.
I tried loading Windows XP Pro and it fails with a file not found error....
tried a different DVD drive and got the same file not found error.
I need to run Windows on this thing...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Stupid Question on my part probably but you said you have a new Tyan S2895(K8WE) mainboard. What CPU do you have. Is it x64 compliant. Usually if not the Bios is neither

Hello
The 64-bit newsgroup is microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general.
You may be able to get more specific 64-bit support in that newsgroup.
Windows XP Professional X64 edition requires ACPI to be able to install.
The non-ACPI hals are not available.
You should check with Tyan about an updated BIOS or a BIOS setting that
corrects the ACPI issue that it is reporting.
Thanks,
