Configuration

I have a compaq presario laptop. It has a wild configuration set up by
someone else. Both windows xp home and windows xp pro were installed to the
same partition. Is this an acceptable configuration or is this downright
garbage and should be reinstalled with one os per partition? Also, when
dialing out the modem gives an error 720 after registering computer and user
on the network. I went over the settings on the modem several time and
don't see any problems.

Thanks in advance

Hi RG,

Thanks for posting here.

I noticed that there are two problems in your post and you also posted the
same questions in our microsoft.private.directaccess.windowsxp newsgroup.
Regarding the second issue, I have replied you in that Partner Support
newsgroup, please check my answer there.

In the future, please don't cross-post the same post in multiple
newsgroups. This will help our engineers work on your question more
efficiently. Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.

About your configuration concern, we do not recommend install two OS in one
same partition, especially Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home
Edition. Since there may be some potential conflicts including user
profiles, installed programs and so on. Maybe these conflicts do not occur
so far, but we cannot guarantee that they will not appear in future.

Therefore, if you need a long time dual boot system which can provide
stability going forward, it might be better if you reinstall one of them to
another partition.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Tom Che
