Fujitsu V7010 New P4 3gig
When installing XP pro or XP Home or XP with sp2 (3 seperate discs)
the CD runs but when it gets to screen "Press R recovery Enter Install or F3
quit"
it freezes none of the keys on the keyboard work
I have tried 3 different hard drives but the same result
New Notebook purchased this week
I can install Win Me from USB floppy drive but even then when I upgrade that
to XP it still freezes at the same point Its as if the keyboard drivers are
not loading
even the Fujitsu OEM XP home freezes at same point
IT is running with the original OEM but I want to upgrade to Pro
Help please there is no info at all on the "

You have a brand new notebook? Did it come with Windows XP
Home Edition preinstalled? Why are you attempting to install
Windows ME?

I would suggest reading the following procedure carefully
and proceed with a "clean install" of Windows XP Professional:

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

NOTE: If you have an internal Zip Drive installed, physically disconnect the
EIDE and power cable to it before proceeding, otherwise your main
hard drive may not be assigned the customary C: drive letter.
After installing Windows XP, you may then reconnect it.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

9. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:

I am not trying to install Me I want to install XP pro
Yes it came with XP Home yes it works
But when I try a clean install the system hangs when it says " Press R
recovery Enter for Install or F3 to quit
Yes i know about the bios Its set to CD Floppy HDD in that order
I have even tried with the 6 disk floppy set it still hangs at the same place
Not of the keys will work including ctr alt del i have to power off
I tried "me" to make sure the bios for the mbr was not locked it loaded fine
The reload CD from fuji all hangs at the same spot basicily if the system
crashes there is no way i can reload
I wondered if this has been come accross before or if there is a work around
I am sure the keyboard drivers are not loading
if you read my original post again the question is still the same
Not how to set the bios not how to install xp but why the system hangs at
that point
thankyou
