My new PC does not include a Windows XP disk so I cannot install Backup
Utility. Can anyone tell me how to get hold of this utility as I have a new
external hard drive and want to automate the backup process?

Your computer has some method of Restoring the computer to factory state.
This is required by law for all computers sold in the U.S. I would suggest
that you check the owners manual that came with your computer on how to
access the restore partition and how to make a restore CD set.
