Hi

I have just downloaded service pack 2 on my laptop. It did not come up with
any error messages when it loaded. I can no longer get the laptop to work. I
have tried getting in via Safe mode - it starts to load the drivers and then
stops. I have also tried to go back to the last good configuration - but a
blank screen appears. I think(?) it may be that one of the drivers is not
compatible - but i cant get on to the sytem to find out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Many thanks

dawnyanne

1. How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed successfully:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=875355

2. Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.
If that fails, reboot tapping F8 again this time choosing Safe Mode.
Then System Restore to Date/Time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

3. Otherwise perform a Repair Installation:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/repaxp.htm

4. When you are ready for SP-2, follow the Service Pack Installation

Hi

I tried to uninstall following the instructions with the original XP CD -
went into recovery and typed in the uninstall command. The first few lines
that came up said access denied and file not found - it then proceeded to
copy a lot of files. Same thing still happens when i try to restart - if I
start in safe mode - it starts to load the drivers and then freezes - please
help!!! thankyou!!

Try Last Known Good Configuration.
If that fails, perform a Repair Installation per Step 3 of my last post.
