If I configure one of my HOME machine (win2003) as a domain server and
give it the same domain name "mycompany.com", will it work? I will can
set again the domain name on my works machine and use again my account?

No, the only way you can fix this is to rejoin your computer to the
company domain. You will need to contact your company's IT Dept. for
this.

To create a domain, you would need to start with a server operating
system, such as WinNT 4.0 Server (may it rest in peace), Win2K Server,
or Windows Server 2003.

WinXP Home cannot even be a domain member, much less a server.

Is this your personal machine they connected to your work domain for you?
If not - then yes - you should have never changed from a domain logon to a
workgroup. Not to mention that there is NO NEED to do this - ever.
Anything y ou can access in a domain is usually accessible even if the
machine is not a member (there are some more secure cases - all be they are
rare) and as a domain member you can access anything outside the domain with
just a little research/effort.

You took yourself out of the domain (where you logged in with your user) so
your user no longer has access to this PC. They were probably logging in
with cached credentials when away from the office. Now - you can access
your files/folders since you say you can logon as an administrator - but
there is no practical way for you to logon under your now-defunt domain user
without having the system rejoined to the domain - which more than likely
your Work System Adminstrators will have to do.

So if all you need is the files from the profile - look under C:\Documents
and Settings\YOURUSERNAME and search for the files there...
Otherwise - expect to allow your company system administrators access to the
laptop first thing Monday.

Thanks for the advice, but what will happen when I connect my computer
to my company netwlork monday? If I logon with Admin account and switch
back to domain, informing "mycompany.com" won't it work ok and i will be
able to log with my usser account? or my user account is lost forever?

If they rejoin the domain for you, you should then be able to logon as you
were doing before - same profile, etc.
(If they do it right and just rejoin without deleting the old account
first.)

Plus - it is just a user account.. Other than the files on the user
account - all the rest is recreatable by you with minimal (configured the
way you want it to look/feel.) The files are likely still on the system (as
I stated you could get to them now as the administrator of the system) - so
it is just sitting and taking up space.

You may get lucky and be able to login straight away. If not the computer
will need to be re-joined to the domain. Someone with domain admin rights
will have to do this. Once the computer is re-joined to the domain you
should be able to login with your domain user account.

Ok, thanks all for the help, in this moment i'm working with the admin
account and it's working fine (looks like my sys admin don't like admin
passwords (for my luck ;) )). I'm very gratefull for you help and
advice.
