XP Firewall and connecting to WiFi

I am running XP Pro with SP 2 and the firewall that comes with SP2.
Everything works fine at home have no trouble but if I try to use another
wifi lets say at the coffe shop I can't connect. (I've tried this at 3
different wifis) The machine will try to get an ip address but is not
sucessful. If I shut down the firewall then it can aquire an IP address so
it is something in the firewall. Once I get the ip address I can bring the
firewall back up and it runs fine. So it would seem the only thing the
firewall is not allowing is the aquiring of an ip address. Any ideas?

Thanks

Fr. Robert

turn on the dropped packet log and see if anything interesting shows up when
you try connecting to the wifi and fail.
