Inconsistent startup behavior

Can someone please explain why sometimes after logging in, my SQL Server icon
shows a stopped status (red) for several seconds before it starts running
(green)? More importantly, why does my Norton Antivirus AutoProtect icon
have an "X" through it (disabled) for an extended time before it starts
running? Other times, there is no "hiccup" during startup. How do I correct
this?
RR
This reason for this is sometimes you have not immediately logged on when
prompted that you are allowed. If you let the system boot and wait for 2-5
mins before logging in, you will not experience this problem.

Thanks. However, this scenario has not always been so. Could an MVP verify
this reply for me?
