Sorry if this is a FAQ - it's hard too Google on this one, and I'm new
to XP.
I've got four PCs connected to a router/ADSL modem, two of them
through wireless. They're my kids' machines, and both exhibit the
same problem. One is running XP Home; the other XP Pro.
On both these machines, I have an administrator login, and I've set
the kids up as restricted users. If I boot them up (the PCs, not the
kids!) and use the kids' logins, the wireless network driver doesn't
communicate with the router/modem, so there's no LAN or internet
access.
If I log on as admin, all is fine for both the admin and the
restricted accounts until the machine is rebooted, even if I log off
the admin account and just leave the restricted account logged in.
It's as if something is being run when the admin account logs in that
(a) isn't being run when a restricted user logs in and (b) is
essential for connectivity to the router.
I'll post system specs if that would be any help, but I'm not sure
which particular specs would be relevant. The network hardware and
drivers is eTEC stuff, and it's not WinXP Logo certified, which might
be relevant here.
Please help me avert a nervous breakdown. ;-)
