Hi,
many but not all Windows XP Pro SP2 users in our LAN experience an odd
behavior regarding access to remote resources.
All Windows XP SP2 are brand new and clean. They normally access file shares
on a Windows 2000 Small Business Server and on a Windows 2003 Standard
Edition. Everything works fine for everyone for a few hours but at one point
several users start experiencing "slowdowns" in accessing the shares (major
slowdown - easily 30 or 45 seconds when usually it's almost instant access).
Neither the client machines nor the servers have heavy processes running and
network traffic is low (no high load). The only way to restore "standard"
remote file share access speed is to reboot the XP client machine.
What can be the problem? Are there "user session timeouts" or "prioritizing
of session time"?
This situation comes up daily, mostly during the afternoon (on a standard
business day).
Any help/tips appreciated.
Regards
