Here is a stange one. We have a Windows 2000 network where users logon to
the domain. All user profiles are stored locally.
I have a Windows XP machine (SP2) where I set up a share of the "My
Documents" (C:\Dox & Setting\User\My doc...) folder for everyone with full
control. Looking at the permissions everything appears to be as it should.
If a remote computer is also Windows XP there is no problem accessing and
modifying files in my documents or sub-folders.
However, if a remote computer is running Windows 2000 then it can access and
modify files that are in the "my documents" folder but cannot modify (can
still access though) any sub folder of "my documents". In other words a
file named "test.txt" that's in "my dox" can me editted w/o issue. If the
same "test.txt" is in "my documents\hockeydata" then it can be opened but not
saved. It *can* be saved if given a new filename (so it's not as if there is
no write permission).
Any help appreciated! Thanks.
