How do I stop display of all shared drives and webs in Network Places?

How do I stop Network Places from showing all the shared drives on the local network, and all of the webs created on my development
compute?

Click Tools | Folder Options | View and un-check "Automatically search
for network folders and printers". Manually right-click and delete
undesired shares, and they shouldn't return.
