[Terry Lemons]

I have one computer of my four computers that doesn't show up in the My
Network Places of the other three computers. But this fourth computer can
browse and see other computers in its My Network Places. I don't see any
logon failures in the Security Event Viewer. So why would one computer not
allow other computers to see it in My Network Places. Normal IP operations
work just fine, inbound and outbound.

Suggestions, please!

Frequently, this will be caused by a firewall blocking access.

Another possibility is a browser conflict. The browser is the subsystem that
populates the display in My Network Places. Diagnose using browstat, run from
the problem computer, and one other computer. Also check the hidden and
restrictanonymous settings.

Make sure that (a) the computer has sharing enabled, and (b) it is actually
sharing something.

"My Network Places" has nothing to do with network access. It is nothing
more than a phone book of computers that are advertising something to share
with the rest of the network. If the computer isn't sharing anything, there
is no reason to list itself in an advertising group.
