[Toy]

I am all of a sudden having difficulties connecting to a workgroup printer..
All was working fine at 1 point, then poof, i am unable to view or access
shared folders on other workgroup computers, or add a printer to my wireless
laptops. Do not know what happened. I went through and redid network setup
wizard, and made sure all computers had same workgroup name and still
nothing, i clik add printer on my laptop, and browse for a printer, and
nothing comes up in the list,nor am i able to view shared documents on other
systems. Any ideas???

Are your computers otherwise connected? Can you ping one from the other? Any
ideas what changed immediately before "poof"?

Do you maybe have a misbehaving firewall?

Everything seems fine, I am running xp home w/sp2 on main desktop system,
where the main printer is hooked up, i also have 2 laptops that are running
xp pro w/sp2, that are both wireless, also 1 other desktop computer on xp
home w/sp2, i have made sure all computers have the same "workgroup" name,
also went as far as to rename to of the computers, sometimes i am able to
view other computers in network places, sometimes not, but am never allowed
to access them from either network places or through windows explorer ,
always tells me i do not have administrative priveledges or the path is not
there.. I am so frustrated, everything was working before. The only thing i
noticed that has changed is i built, repair computers, and i've had a few
laptops come and go, and used the wireless router to connect them to the
internet, to download things, etc... but that is all, I'm wondering if it
addected anything, also i have disabled windows firewalls on each system and
am using Zone Alarm Pro on each system.. Although everything was fine before,
<big sigh> . Please help i've been pulling hair out on this for days..

The intermittent nature makes a browser conflict very likely, but you'll have to
do the diagnosis, using browstat, run on all computers. For more detail about
the browser issue:

did the browstat thing, from command prompt, came up and said, invalid
internal,external command, also went to 2 computers to turn browsers off and
found no such thing even close to where you said in Administrative tools.. i
have no clue where to go from here, nothing is working at all, you can add me
to msn if you would like... i would appreciate some more input..

Where did you put browstat (what folder is it in)? What operating systems are

If you read my article on the Path, when you put it in C:\Stuff, you may need to
run it as "c:\stuff\browstat status". Or is "C:\Stuff" part of the path?
