I have a home network which consits of a PC & laptop. I have a cablem modem
connection and am using a Linksys Wireless router. The PC is conencted to
the router via a cat5 cable, the laptop is using the wireless connection.
Both computers are able to get to the internet with no problems. However,
the laptop cannot ping the PC but the PC can ping the laptop. The PC is
WinXP Pro SP2. The firewall is on with no exceptions. Workgroup name is
MSHOME, IP is 192.168.1.102, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1. The
laptop is WinXP Home SP2. The firewall is on with no exceptions. Workgroup
name is MSHOME, IP is 192.168.1.100, subnet is 255.255.255.0, gateway
192.168.1.1. Aby suggestions would be great. Thanks

Dave,

Windows Firewall (XP SP2) requires the File and Printer Sharing exception, or an
ICMP exception (Advanced tab), to allow pings. Enable an exception, and try
again.

Exactly what error message do you get for "cannot ping"? How about the names of
the two computers, better yet, complete and unedited "ipconfig /all".
