....I can't access my desktop machine (XP Home) from my laptop (XP Pro).
When I attempt to open a shared volume in either direction, I get 'An
error occurred while connecting A: to \\... Microsoft Windows Network:
The network path was not found. This connection has not been restored".

Now, I can ping my desktop from my laptop but not the reverse. Also, I
can get to another desktop (Win2K) from the desktop.

When I attempt to map a new drive on the laptop, the workgroup in the
'Browse for Folder' dialog fails to show the other machines in the
workgroup. This problem doesn't occur on my XP desktop.

So, the problem is evidentally with the laptop although I can't imagine
why as I haven't changed anything on it recently.

Any thoughts?

Asymmetrical access (pings / NN visibility) is normally a firewall problem.
