My own computer suddenly refuses to download some of the image file I
posted onto my own homepage. There appears to be no particular pattern
of the error. e.g These two persistently refuses to be downloaded. IE
just kept on waiting forever

most other files on the same server has no problems.

It is not just IE, even CuteFTP from the same computer cannot download
them. But all my other computers can see the pages without problems.

Is my computer being block by a virus? A scan by Norton turns out
nothing.

ABC,

- have you checked on the web server for any permissions set to those two
files?

Apparently the problem is not at your end but on the server handling those
files.

yes. They are all the same (including the downloadable files -rw-r-r)

The point is that out of the 20 files all set to the same attribute
and in the same directory, a few have this problem----and only on my
computer.

Is the answer also a secret? It would be good if you shared the solution
for others who may have a similar problem.

Ah . I thought nobody is watching.

My Lan is by a PCI add on card. I just pulled out the newly installed
NEC PCI-USB2 card and everything is back to normal.

By experiment , never fails to cause trouble in downloading files, no
matter how I arrange the 2 cards. Pull it out, the internet connection
becomes distinctly faster.

Don't ask me why.

Thanks for the info. Maybe there was a conflict between the video card and
the network card. Glad you got it working.
