My problem is the following. When im trying to reach a specific computer
throught \\computername or \\computername\c$ i've got a window that has only
Guest user and you have to type a password. What i want is for example to
login with admin right but the cell where the user name is, is locked and i
can't change it.
Do i have to change something in registry or something ?
Even if i disable the guest account only Guest appears in the username.

Thanks in advanced

Is the specific computer running Simple File Sharing (either XP Home, or XP Pro
with SFS enabled)? If so, you're out of luck - SFS uses Guest access only. If
the specific computer is running XP Pro with Classic File Sharing, setup and use
an administrative account, with identical, non-blank password on both computers.

I found a fossil service, McAfee Personal Firewall, on \\LANDAU. When I
stopped it, everything started working.

I had previously had a McAfee problem on that machine where the install
of VirusScan and Personal Firewall Plus from their internet site would
fail part-way through. I didn't realize there were pieces of it lying
around.

Thanks for your help! I found this while going through your list of
suggestions and linked articles; one of them emphasized the importance
of having the ICS service (Windows Firewall) running, and while trying
to find it in the Services list, I ran across the McAfee Firewall.

Mike,

Well, that's certainly a circuitous method of getting a result, but I'm glad you
got there. Thanks for updating us.
