I just upgraded several computers in one office from Windows 2000 to XP Pro.
Actually, I reformatted & installed the upgrade edition of XP Pro.
At any rate, the two PC's that are AMD Athlon 750's share this quirk: after
some time on the network during the day, they temporarily lose network
connectivity. The user finds out when the Exchange client (Outlook
2000/XP/2003) fails to find the server & comes back with the "server busy,
blah, blah, blah" message. However, none of the P3's in the office have this
problem.
I have tried replacing network cables (they run to the same switch as the
P3's) and even the NIC in one of them, to no avail (one had a Netgear NIC
that was replaced with a D-Link, and the other has a 3Com NIC, that I have
not tried replacing). Any ideas? Is it possible that this is related to the
AMD processor?
The user's perspective is: "It never had this problem before YOU upgraded
it..."
