Dear friends
I need some help on adding an additional computer to a home network.
At present, I have a Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router. Two computers are
connected to it. The main computer, a desktop is a Pentium IV 1.5 Ghz
computer connected via an Dlink NIC card with WIndows XP Professional
installed. The second computer, a Fujitsu laptop 2.4 Ghz 512 Mb computer is
connected wirelessly to the router with Windows XP Home installed . Both
computers can see each other fine and can connect to the internet with no
problems.
The problem came up when I added another computer to the set up. It is a
Celeron based computer with a Realtek NIC card with Windows XP Professional
installed. I connected it via the NIC card to the same router. It is able to
see the two other computers in the networkwhen I view network computers in My
Network Places. The main problem is the internet access. For some reason,
when I connected the third computer, my internet access through the first
desktop computer is pretty much gone! I can't access the internet. The third
computer can't seem to access the internet also. When I detach the lan cable
from the third computer from the router, the first computer accesses the
internet normally!
Question: What things should I be checking on the :
a. router settings
b. third computer settings
c. main computer settings
d. Possible conflicts
Any help would be highly appreciated.
