XP Home port forwarding between "machine" and localhost...normal?

XP Home fresh build w/ virus software, Adware and all updates.

Seems like my Pc keeps sending broadcasts as seen by the hub (all lights
lighting up). Looking at open ports through netstat, it shows "my
machine":<misc port> to localhost:<misc port>. There are quit a few of these
and it looks like it cycles through ports.

Is this because of the hub/switch I'm connected to doing SSI or something?
Should this be happening?

Thanks!

It is quite normal. Nothing to do with your hub.
