I just installed all the latest Security Patches as well as SP2 and now I'm
unable to do a simple telnet to a remote smtp server on port 25. Would these
security patches prohibit me from doing that?
I've got another Win2003/SP1 machine on the same network and it works find
from that machine, so I don't think it's network related.
Thanks

Hi John

FYI, I'm running XP Pro SP2 with all updates and I can telnet to my
ISP's SMTP server on port 25 no problem.

Have you tried adding an exception for %SystemRoot%\system32\telnet.exe
in the Windows Firewall settings?

Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Exceptions

Yes, I've tried that.
