Slow population of File\Path selection drop downs.

Hi all

This is driving me nuts.

I have XPPro (No SP2), NIC to Cable internet, NIC to another PC.
Explorer is OK, but if for example, I go to save a document to a new
location, and click the Combo (Drop Down) "Save In" the system goes browsing
my PC, the internet and the other PC. The internet browse takes about 90
seconds. I can bypass this if I disable the connection.
This happens with all similar path/file selection combos.

Any ideas?

TIA

Ian,

Your problem is one that's frequently seen with overly complex protocol stacks.
TCP/IP, and NetBIOS Over TCP/IP, is the recommended protocol stack for Windows
Networking. Adding IPX/SPX and / or NetBEUI protocols will cause this
situation.

Thanks Chuck

I do have both TCP/IP and NetBEUI - I'll remove NetBEUI.

Tks again
