Intermittent loss of network connection

My computers loose the network connection intermittently, for no apparent
I have a small home network using two desktop computers, and a laptop
connected by a Linksys router (By cable, no wireless).

I can get the connection between the commuters working with shared drives
and files, but then I loose the connection. The message says I do not have
authorization to access the other computer. It happens at odd times, with,
or without other programs running – no apparent pattern.

I can ping the router from all computers, but not through to another
computer. However, I still have Internet connections. I can re-run the
network setup wizard and restore the connections – sometimes it works, others
not. I can restart, again sometimes it works, sometimes not, same with
resetting the router.

I can not think of what else to try
