Console Messaging

I'm trying to set up console messaging in a domain setup with Win2k domain
contoller and WinXP clients. I must not understand the concept well, because
I cannot get the messaging to work amongst any of the machines, except for
one-way between one pair of clients. Is there a checklist available to guide
me through the setup processs for this function? Alternately, can someone
tell
me what the problem is and/or how to fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Do the XP machines have SP2 installed? SP2 automatically 1) *disables*
the Messenger service, which is what you need to have running if you
want to do Net Send - console messaging; 2) and *enables* the Windows
Firewall.

Make sure both of these items are set correctly for your network needs.

No, No machine on my network has SP2. Too much trouble. The clients are all
sp1 and the server is win2k sp4.
