Can't capture in Windows Movie Maker

I have a JVC camcorder that uses only USB, and I want to capture my movies in
DVD-AVI format. But when I click on capture I get an error message that says
"An Interface Has Too Many Methods To Fire Events From" or "Unspecified
Error. What does this mean, and how can I get past it. All I want to do is
capture the files then edit & create in Photoshop Elements, which won't let
me use USB. The camera is recognized fine, I get this message when trying to
proceed from the Video Capture Wizard ->Video Settings ->Next Any help
greatly appreciated!

All digital8 and mini-DV camcorders have firewire connections that you
should be using...
What model is it? if you only have a USB option, it's probably capturing to
an MPEG-2 file that Movie Maker can't work with... so you would need to
capture with the software that came with the camcorder and convert the file
to AVI to get it to MM2.

Papa John - this has no firewire connection, usb and dv cable, not a firewire
connection. I did download the movies with the cheesy Imagemaker software
that came with the camera, which only makes VCDs btw, but it's in some
unusual format that none of the file conversion programs would recognize,
it's extension is .ppg.
