a format Movie Maker recognizes. Avi
would be a good choice.

will take you to the most informed web site available (my opinion) it has a
very usefull search engine where you answer a few simple questions and it
responds with text comments on the issue at hand and where possible links to
the software for the conversion. As far as I know the software offered is
either free or shareware. Its an all round excelent website

It's true that www.videohelp.com is a great resource for info... but it
supports those wanting to get files into MPEG or Divx encoded avi files...
those wanting to get videos into Movie Maker usually have to take extra
steps to convert the MPEG or Divx encoded files into others that Movie Maker
works well with.

The Importing Source Files section of my website has info that is tailored
to the users of Movie Maker.... some of my recent newsletters covered the
conversion of MPEG-2, Discs and XP- MCE recorded TV files into avi files for
Movie Maker projects, and the pages on the site were updated. Part of my
research when writing the newsletters was all the tutorials and software
packages referenced by www.videohelp.com.

Once again you demonstrate that your research is not up to
scratch....Videohelp.com 2IS" the most complete resource on the net for ALL
rtypes of conversion....Conversion is the subject matter of the OP's
question.

Your message simply indicates research into one limited field to the
exclusion of other formats...the OP wants to know about quicktime and as
even you indicated videohelp.com is the place to go.

As far as the accuracy of your research goes.....as you mentioned it would
you like me to respond on that issue as well??? Are you still happy to quote
your experience as being one that enabled you to post to 63 newsgroups????

out those who took advice on how to screw up their BIOS settings (from your

To the OP....I have no connection with the videohelp site and even though
the *professional* called papajohn has attempted to make it sound as though
videohelp.com is not worth your effort, you will find if you scan backwards
in this newsgroup many examples of the videohelp.com website being refered
to as the place to look by most if not all informed users of this newsgroup.
You may also come to the conclusion that the only reason for the
"professional" pj to make such remarks is to stir further trouble up in this
newsgroup. He HATES it if he might loose your trade.

Actually it supports converting from and to just about any file type you can
think of.
Put in your source and destination types and the site will point you to
programs (some free some not) that will do what you need and usually plenty
of useful information along with that.
