how do i turn off hearing the mouse click on a web link
its so annoying to hear ..how do i turn the sound off for that without taking
away any other sound
The mouse click? It is a feature of your mouse and not XP. Go here:
Start>Control Panel>Mouse
See if there is a check for Mouse click and uncheck it. It all depends on
what brand of mouse you have to delete this feature.

In Control Panel, "Sounds and Audio Devices" on the Sounds tab in the
Windows Explorer section set "Start Navigation" to none.

You might want to try the following:
Go to Control Panel and double click on "Sounds and Audio
Devices".
Click on the Sounds tab.
In the Program Events box, scroll down to the Windows Explorer
section.
Click on "Start Navigation".
In the Sounds menu box, click on the arrow to display the menu.
Click on [None].
Click on the "Save as" button.
Enter a name for this new sound scheme.
Click OK to close Sounds Properties.
