I don't know how to start a topic, but I need HELP!!! I have been working on
WP for years and now I am on Word 2003. While most of it has been great
there is one problem I am encountering that is driving me crazy.
Ctrl-U is underline in both WP and Word. However, I have to keep going into
tool, options, and compatability to check the box for underlining and
trailing spaces....What I want it to do after that is to KEEP those settings,
but I have to do it for every document and somehow this makes no sense to me.
Can SOMEONE HELP ME please.

Have you tried asking in the Word newsgroups?

Try this suggestion: the Compatibility box relates only to the open
Document. Instead try editing the template normal.dot and using the
Compatibility box. Close normal.dot and the next time you open a new
document it will underline trailing spaces like you want.
If you don't know where normal.dot is kept look in Tools/Options/File
Locations.
Hope this works!

YOu won't believe this but there is nothing in there that says template
normal.dot. However a search on my computer found 6 normal.dots, but not in
that box.
I am LOST....really as to what to do. I am one of 10 people on this server
but I don't have administrative privileges. At this point I am getting
frustrated.
Any other suggestions?

You have a SEPARATE normal.dot for each User on your computer.
Look for the one that relates to your User Name e.g. C:\Documents and
Settings\YourName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. That's the one you
want. Open it in Word (remember to look for "All Files (*.*) when Opening)
and do what I suggested. It will work, trust me.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but the normal dot is not where you said it
should be. And now I have another problem....now when I highlight something
to delete and push the delete button a message comes across the bottom of the
screen asking me whether I want to delete or not....Sheesh I remember than
from Dos WP 4.2...
I don't recall doing anything to make that happen and even when the computer
person came in through remote on my computer she couldn't fix it. Actually I
don't think she knows much myself. Maybe we need a new computer tech.
I appreciate all your help and I hate to be bothering like this but I am
getting frustrated.
