Since I have up graded to windows XP, when ever I turn my computer on, just
before the windows sound comes on to open my desktop there is a buzzing noise
and when I turn my computer off, just as my screen turn dark there is a pop.
Any suggestions?

How old is your system for that would be an indication of possible hardware
problems? They could be systems checks of your harddrive, floppy-drive, or
CD-Rom drive turning on and off. After you boot your system, do a RESTART
and check if you still have those sounds, if not it is just a system quirk.
If you
do, get ready to copy all your personal documents, photos, etc. to a CD. :~)
